In August 2022, more than 100 dedicated filmmakers united to create a feature film inspired by the practical-effects legacy of John Carpenter’s The Thing and the dream-logic terror of Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street. Under the direction of Writer-Director Joe Lam, the team set out to craft a story that was as wild and entertaining as it was thematically rich, exploring commitment, parenthood, and bodily autonomy through a bold and outrageous narrative.

The Fetus brought together artists from across the world, combining extensive special effects makeup, practical creature builds, puppeteering, and visual effects to bring its horrifying (and darkly comedic) world to life. We’re proud of what we created: a film that not only entertains but also challenges audiences to consider what they would do when faced with the same impossible choices as our characters.
